Getting Vitamin C from food worked pretty well until the invention of supermarkets, processed foods, and overcooking. To add insult to injury, early research into Vitamin C resulted in the minimum daily requirement for Vitamin C being set too low. Way too low.
*OK. I need to give credit here. Yes, the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of Vitamin C will keep you from getting scurvy. Scurvy is a horrible disease in which the body literally becomes unglued and bleeds to death.
But as I've mentioned above, Vitamin C does SO much more, but only IF YOU GET ENOUGH VITAMIN C in the first place.
